A Great Federation Evening

The second Federation digital inter-club competition took place on 27th March 2007 to an audience of about 80 at Shirley Methodist Church Hall. Thirteen clubs took part, each submitting fifteen images. In addition to the club award of the Vic Smith Trophy, certificates were given to the best image overall and three runners-up.

A judging machine was used and the three judges each gave a mark between 2 and 5 resulting in a total mark for the image between 6 and 15. No commentary was given on images at the marking stage. If there were ties between clubs they were resolved by successively discounting the lowest mark in each panel until the leader was determined. A dead heat was declared if this did not result in a leader. Finally, all images that scored 13 or above were reviewed by the judges and the images for individual awards were selected and commented upon.

The judges were: Tony Riley LBIPP, Marcus Scott-Taggart and Andy Smith. Entries were received from 13 of the 17 SLF member clubs: Beckenham, Bromley, Carshalton, Cheam, Croydon, Old Coulsdon, Orpington, Photocraft, Selsdon, South London, Sutton, West Wickham and Woolwich. This was an excellent evening with plenty of great images on display.
