Jack's Jug Digital Competition 2007

Regulations

  1. The competition is for images from individual photographers submitted as digital files on a CD and shown using a digital projector.
  2. Eligibility: Any member of a South London Federation club may enter up to four images.
  3. Two of these images will be automatically accepted. A further one or two from each entrant will be accepted if required to make the total entry to up to approximately 120 images.
  4. Entrants are required to state the preference order for their images on the entry form.
  5. Venue: The competion will be held at Shirley Methodist Church Hall, Eldon Avenue, Croydon on Tuesday 6th November 2007 at 8pm - 10pm. Doors open at 7.30pm. There will be no charge for club members and visitors wishing to attend.
  6. Judge: Clive Tanner FRPS of Maidstone Camera Club, a KCPA Premier judge
  7. Awards: The best image will win the Federation trophy, “Jack’s Jug” and hold it for one year. A further five merit awards will be made.
  8. Images: Images may be monochrome or colour. No image may be used which has been awarded a certificate or trophy (in any format, including slide or print) in a Federation competition in any previous season.
  9. Images should be in JPEG RGB format in the sRGB working space (including monochrome images), with either:
    • a horizontal dimension of 768 pixels and a vertical dimension of no more than 768 pixels or
    • a vertical dimension of 768 pixels and a horizontal dimension of no more than 768 pixels
    • ( This image size is chosen to ensure that both landscape and portrait images are projected to equivalent dimensions on the screen.)

  10. Files and Folders : The four images should be in one folder whose name is the entrant’s name. (For example: “Josie Smith FRPS” )
  11. For each image, the file name should be the title of the image, led by a number to indicate the requested order of preference. There should be only a space separating the number from the title. (For example: “1 Bumblebee in flight.jpg”)
  12. Projection: The projector used when judging the images will be calibrated to sRGB colour space. Any projected background around the images will be black.

Submission of Entries

  1. The closing date for the receipt of entries is 13th October 2007
  2. The entry form is available here in Adobe Acrobat/Reader format. The Adobe Reader can be downloaded from the Adobe site.
  3. The entry fee is £3 per entrant irrespective of the number of images and must be sent with the entry. Cheques must be made payable to “FSLPS” .
  4. Entries comprising the entry CD, the entry form, and the £3 entry fee should be sent to Steve Wilbur, 29 Monks Orchard Road, BECKENHAM, BR3 3BH. Please address any queries to steve.wilbur@btinternet.com
  5. The entrant’s CD will not be returned, and will be destroyed at the end of November. The copyright of all images is retained by the entrant. Selected images may be used to publicise the Federation competitions, including use on the Federation website. It is planned that a CD of the accepted images will be available for clubs to purchase. Entry implies agreement to this use of the entrant’s images.
