Audio-Visual Digital Competition 2008

Regulations

  1. The Fifteenth FSLPS Audio-Visual Competion will be held at All SaintsChurch Hall, Onslow Gardens, Sanderstead, Surrey CR2 9AB on Saturday 26th January 2008 at 4.30pm to about 9.30pm. Doors will open at 4 pm.
  2. Judge: TBA
  3. Award: The producer(s) of the best sequence will win the Federation Audio-Visual Challenge Trophy and will hold it for two years.
  4. Entries from Individuals: Individual members of clubs within the Federation may enter as follows:
    1. Each entrant may submit one sequence.
    2. For co-productions, a maximum of two people may produce a sequence jointly. This counts as the entry for both individuals.
  5. Entries from Clubs: Each Federation club may enter one club sequence, the production and image content of which must have been contributed by 3 or more members of the club.
  6. The order of showing sequences will be determined by the organising Sub-Committee.
  7. Entry Fee: In all cases the entry fee is £5 per sequence. The fee provides admission to the event, one copy of the programme and interval refreshments for one person only - the principal producer for club entries.
  8. Admission Fee: For entrants not covered by a sequence entry fee and for other visitors, admission to the event costs £5 and will include a programme and refreshments.

Sequence Preparation

  1. The competition is for sequences designed for single screen projection, consisting of images accompanied by soundtrack recorded digitally on CD/DVD and performed using a computer and single projector.
  2. An XGA digital projector (1024 x 768 pixels max.), computer (Windows platform), screen and a stereo sound system will be provided.
  3. Duration: The maximum duration per sequence is 8 minutes.
  4. Identifying information: Producers are advised to avoid including any image or reference in the sequences which might be construed as readily identifying the producing club or individual.
  5. The main photography and sequence production for each entry must be the original work of the entrant(s) who should also hold all copyright. Any other help must be declared.
  6. Each entry on CD/DVD must contain an EXE program, ie. the sequence must run with no additional software requirements. The CD/DVD, marked indelibly, must contain only one sequence. All sequences copied to the hard drive will be erased after the competition.

Submission and Return of Entries

  1. The closing date for submission of Entry Registration Forms and fees is 31st October 2007
  2. The Entry Registration Form must be completed by the club's coordinator and it is available here in Adobe Acrobat/Reader format. The Adobe Reader can be downloaded from the Adobe site.
  3. The entry fee is £5 per sequence, see Regulations above. Cheques must be made payable to “FSLPS” .
  4. Sequences on CD/DVD must be received by 26th November 2007.
  5. A representative from each club must collect the CD/DVDs immediately after the event, otherwise the CD/DVDs will be destroyed.
